Rising Stars

December 2002 - Jenna WiseHome: Indiana (USA) Hi! I am a dancer in Indiana. I've been dancing since I was about three years old. My mom had to sneak me in because of my age. At the time you had to be four years old to start dancing at that certain studio. Since I was fairly tall I was able to pass for the age of four. I loved it then and still my passion for dancing has only grown for this amazing sport. .I'm now in a dance company. We have auditions just like any other company. We have number and judges; it's really the real thing! To love what you do can only help you! If you don't enjoy it your wasting your time to realize what you are truly meant to do. Right now I know what I am meant to do. I love dancing and will never give it up. When I am dancing I just love it and just can't help but show it on my face. At some of the competitions that we go to I have auditioned for scholarships. My dance teachers only encourage you to try it even if you don't get recognized. I have gotten a few scholarships, but I've just had fun at all of them. At one of them I was totally clue less on what I was supposed to be doing. I had no idea what the choreography was, but I just smiled and had fun. Not thinking anything of it I wasn't expecting to get anything! Well, yes you guessed it, I did. At my studio we have assistance. We help out the teachers for whatever they need. I love doing this, not only because I get to experience what to expect when I get older, but also because I love knowing that I am helping an eager dancer to achieve their dreams. Children's happy faces can only brighten your day. Some people look up to a famous, glamorous, beautiful person that's in all of the new movies. I look up to my dance teacher, Tiffany. She saw potential in me even when I was only seven. She has the eye for a dancer like no one else. I look up to her because of her personality and intentions. She knows how to handle anything that you throw her. She has her own style and outlook on life. Use what you have, and be proud. She has had such a great impact on my life like nobody would believe. My advice to any dancer is to pick a person to look up to that you can actually talk to. Even though, yes having a high class person that you look up to can be pretty cool, but keep in mind that your mom or dad or someone close is as or more special as a movie star.
