Sascha Radetsky and Stella Abrera

Sascha Radetsky and Stella Abrera steam up the stage as the lead roles in the great Shakespearean romance, Romeo and Juliet.

Sascha

Sascha Radetsky was born in Santa Cruz, California and began studying ballet in the San Francisco Bay Area with Damara Bennett and Ayako Takahashi. He was invited to study in Moscow at the Bolshoi Academy under Pytor Pestov when he was fifteen. He then went on to study at the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C. under Rudolf Kharatian. Dancing with the Kirov Ballet, he toured internationally. He studied on scholarship at the New York City Ballet’s School of American Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre School of Classical Ballet under Mikhail Baryshnikov, San Francisco Ballet School and the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Vail, Colorado.

In 1996, Sascha joined American Ballet Theatre. Since then, he has been noted for is extraordinary strength as a dancer and his ability to depict a variety of characters. He has performed in leading roles such as Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, La Bayadere, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, and Romeo and Juliet. He recently also starred as Charlie Simms in Columbia Pictures’ Center Stage.

Stella

Stella Abrera was born in Manilla, The Philippines, and was raised in South Pasadena, California. There, she studied with Philip Fuller, Charles Fuller and Cynthia Young at Le Studio in Pasadena. Stella also studied at the West Coast Ballet Theatre in San Diego with Lorna Diamond and Patricia Hoffman. She spent three years in Sydney, Australia and studied with Joan Holliday and Monica Holliday at the Holliday Dance Centre.

Stella joined American Ballet Theatre in 1996 as a member of the corps de ballet. She has danced in various productions including Giselle, La Bayadeere, Cinderella, Swan Lake, the Nutcracker, Diversion of Angels, and Weren’t We Fools?

In 1995, Stella received the Gold Medal at the Royal Academy of Dancing's Adeline Genee Awards in London, and she was appointed a Soloist in August 2001.
