Proud to be part of the fight against breast cancer Capezio® introduced the Capezio® Cares Logo Tote Bag in our Fall 2006 collection, which is now part of our basic catalog.  A portion of the proceeds from all sales of this tote bag goes to the American Cancer Society for research for the cure of breast cancer. This tastefully designed tote bag, with the signature pink ribbon, shows support for women battling this disease, for families who have survived it and for researchers seeking a cure.  In January 2006 Capezio® introduced a seasonal Capezio® Cares Bodywear collection with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society as well.

The Healing with Dance Program provided from October 2005 until April 2006 a total of over $40,000 to finance dance classes for children that were affected by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Recipients benefiting from the program included over 175 children and 30 dance studios in the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina.  In addition to monetary funds, many recipients were sent Capezio® product: dancewear and footwear, to assist in getting back to a life of normalcy.

As New York City is the dance capital of the world, Capezio® was proud to in January 2007 donate dance footwear, apparel and accessories to the New York City public schools, in support of their dance education programs. This contribution highlighted and reinforced Capezio®’s continuing interest in and support for the essential role of the arts in public education, generally, and dance education, in particular. The items were chosen from catalogs supplied by Capezio®.  Over 30 New York City elementary, middle and high schools selected by the Office of the Arts and Special Projects, were chosen as recipients for this program.

The Capezio® Ballet Makers Dance Foundation creates a greater awareness and appreciation of dance as an art form and support efforts which preserve the legacy of the past, recognize the accomplishments of the present and encourage new or emerging talents, trends and practices.  To accomplish this mission, the Capezio® Ballet Makers Dance Foundation operates two programs:
The annual Capezio® Dance Award signifies the recipients’ passionate endeavor towards the summit and the success of that pursuit. Previous recipients include Carmen de Lavallade in 2007, Donald Saddler in 2006, Suzanne Farrell in 2005, Savion Glover in 2004 and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in 2003.

The Grants Program yearly supports numerous dance and certain other national, state and local organizations that provide essential services to the field.

Capezio® continues to support dance organizations including professional dance companies, studio dance companies, dance competitions, dance conventions, dance studios and dance celebrities around the world.
